Pain
Calm it down.
Hands-on work and gentle movement settle swelling and protect the repair, inside what your surgeon has cleared.
What We Treat
Surgery fixes the structure. It does not hand back the strength. Whether your date is next month or already behind you, the work that decides your result happens here, with a licensed physical therapist.

Why It Happens
An operation fixes one structure, and then asks your body to hold still while it heals. Muscles around the joint switch off within days. Scar tissue lays down wherever you are not moving. The joint above and the joint below start covering for it, and they stiffen up as well.
That is why two people with the same operation end up in very different places a year later. The surgery was the same. The rehab was not. Going in stronger shortens the climb back, and starting the right work early stops the compensations from setting. You booked the surgery, took the time off, and arranged the rides. Now book the part that decides how it turns out.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting early. Waiting is the part people wish they could take back.
How We Fix It

Early on
Prime
Guided range of motion reclaims the movement a healing joint gives up fast and returns slowly.
As you build
Perform
Progressive loading brings back the muscle that switched off, so the good side stops carrying you everywhere.
Keeping it
Prevent
We test the movements your day actually asks for, then send you home with a plan to keep them. That is the endpoint.

Questions, Answered
In Connecticut, no. Direct Access means you can see a licensed physical therapist without a doctor’s referral. After an operation we do want your surgeon’s protocol, because it tells us what the repair can take and when, and we are glad to request it for you. If your surgery has not happened yet, you can start today.
Usually, yes. Going into an operation with more strength and more motion means less to rebuild afterwards. Prehab also gets you fluent in the exercises, the crutches and the sling before you are sore and tired. If your date is set, this is a good week to start.
Later is harder than early. It is not the same thing as impossible. Stiffness and weakness that have settled in still move, they just take more patience. We start with a cause-first evaluation to see what the joint will give us today, and build from there.
Expect effort and some soreness, not the sharp pain that means damage. We work inside what your repair can safely take, and we teach you the difference so you are never guessing at home. If something is too much, we change it that visit, not next month.
It depends on the operation and where you are starting from, so an honest answer is not a fixed number. What you get is a plan with an endpoint through the four phases: Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent. We run a free benefits check first, so you know your out of pocket in advance rather than after.
