LSVT BIG therapy in Milford.

Parkinson’s shrinks your movements without ever asking you first. LSVT BIG is the certified protocol that trains them back to full size, with the same therapist beside you every session.

What It Is

Small is the symptom. Big is the training.

LSVT BIG teaches your body to move bigger, so that normal-sized movement stops taking so much effort. Longer steps. A fuller reach. Out of the chair in one go.

This is not a general exercise class. LSVT BIG is a standardized, intensive protocol built specifically for people with Parkinson’s, and it is built around one idea: amplitude. Parkinson’s shrinks movement and, at the same time, makes the shrunken version feel normal. The protocol retrains both.

Joanne Lariza and Dr. Nicole Pergolotti, both licensed physical therapists, and Kristine Berg, an occupational therapist, are all LSVT BIG certified. That certification is why the protocol gets delivered the way it was designed to be, rather than loosely borrowed from.

You are the one who has always powered through things quietly. This is not powering through. It is training, with somebody counting the reps alongside you.

What It Helps

Built for Parkinson’s, useful beyond it.

LSVT BIG retrains the size of your movement, which is usually the first thing to shrink.

What A Session Looks Like

Big effort. Full support.

It is demanding by design, and it is scaled to you from the first session. Every rep is coached, counted, and matched to the body that showed up that day.

1

The same big moves, every session.

2

Your therapist coaches every rep.

3

Homework carries it into your day.

Why It Works

What bigger movement gives back.

Small movement teaches itself. Left alone, the steps get shorter, the reach gets tighter, and the world gets closer in.

Longer steps instead of a shuffle.

Out of the chair in one go.

Turns that feel less like sticking.

Reaching the top shelf on your own.

Questions, Answered

LSVT BIG, answered straight.

It is demanding, and it is scaled to you. Sessions are built on big, repeated movements, and your therapist coaches every rep and adjusts on the spot. Most people finish tired and surprised at what they managed. On a hard day, we work with the body that showed up.

LSVT BIG is a standardized protocol delivered over four weeks, with daily homework in between. That structure is not ours to shorten, because the structure is what makes it work. When the four weeks are up, we build the plan that keeps the gains.

No, and there is no window you have already missed. People start at very different points. The evaluation tells us whether the protocol fits you right now. If not, we build up to it with broader neurological rehab. Either way you leave with an honest answer.

Yes. One therapist, one patient, every visit. You are never doubled up with another patient. That matters here more than almost anywhere, because the protocol depends on somebody watching every rep. Joanne Lariza, Dr. Nicole Pergolotti and Kristine Berg are all LSVT BIG certified.

No referral needed. Connecticut Direct Access lets you start with a physical therapist without one. We run a free benefits check before your first session. You will know what your plan covers before committing to four weeks. Call us at (475) 209-1606 and we will find you a time.
